2003 Nunavut Snow Challenge

What’s it like to race a grueling 320-kilometer course over frozen sea-ice? Jimmy and Bobby Gordon, both of Kuujjuaq, who finished first and second in the Nunavut Snow Challenge in Iqaluit in Nunavut, would likely tell you it was a rush!

Jimmy Gordon completed the race in three hours two minutes, maintaining an average speed of more than 100 kilometers/hour. “The toughest part was the sea-ice,” said Gordon shortly after finishing, “…it was really rough and the land was pretty rocky too.” And if his words aren’t enough, take a look at the photos from the March 29, 2003 event.
